Master Of Reality - Black Sabbath

The third studio album by black sabbath and it does not disappoint. Really capturing that vintage metal sound that everyone loves. Released in 1971 the sound Black Sabbath had was very unique and never seen before and this record certainly helped pave the way for future heavy metal music

Track review

Sweet Leaf - 10/10

Slowed paced head banger with a sweet melodic breakdown section. This song is just incredible with a guitar riff everyone in the metal community knows and loves

After Forever - 8/10

Bringing the pace up slightly with this one with catchy hooks

Embryo - 6/10

Just an album filler. Nothing more, nothing less

Children Of The Gave - 10/10

Just another incredible head banger. The rhythmic elements of this song is something to be admired. Incredible filthy bass and guitar paired well with Ozzy's beautiful voice

Orchid - 6/10

Beautiful sounding piece but not a fan of it being used in this album.

Lord Of This World - 8/10

Just again another head banger paired with melodic notes. Great work on the bass

Solitude - 8/10

Great piece and again the bass lovely. Love the edition of woodwind instruments

Into The Void - 10/10

Just a classic Sabbath sound

8/10

Gotta go and give this one a listen

Jar Of Flies - Alice In Chains

Alice In Chains's EP "Jar Of Flies" was released in 1994 as a showcase of how an acoustic guitar can still be used in the grunge genre. This record conveys so much emotion that I struggle to listen every time. Absolutely incredible record that is still loved by many even thirty two years later.

Track Rating

1. Rotten Apple 9/10

Opening with a banger. The entire composition is incredibly well done and I struggle to fault it in anyway.

2. Nutshell 10/10

Wow. Just wow. Every instrument is absolutely top of there game here but Layne Staleys vocal performance is the main event here. Absolutely incredible

3. I stay away 9/10

Another beautiful track with a nice strings section in the background. The thing that caught my ear the most with this track was how well the guitar and bass paired so perfectly

4. No excuses 8/10

Again I have to credit the bass work here from Mike Inez and the drums from Sean Kinney. Only loss of marks from me is the repetiveness. Apart from this its an absolutely amazing track

5. Whale and Wasp 8/10

Beautiful track that tells a story just through instrumentation. The only reason it isn't a 10/10 is how repetitive it is again. Another mark gone for the Lack of Layne Staleys incredible voice.

6. Don't Follow 9/10

Another beautiful track that deserves a lot of credit. The harmonica certainly was a nice edition to the track

7. Swing On This 7/10

Not a bad song but I just didn't see how it fit in the EP.

Overall Rating

Beautiful record that I can't really fault. Should definitely give this one a listen 9.5/10
